‘Apple Snow In Summer’ is a 14-year-old from distillery 9. This one saw full maturation in a 2nd-fill ex-Bourbon barrel with a total outturn of 163 bottles. I can take or leave distillery 9 most of the time. They don’t do bad whisky by any means; I just find it a bit generic at times. 2nd-fill in the spicy and sweet profile had me interested though.

Nose

I didn’t get much on the nose for this one. Green apples and boiled sweets.

Taste

Creamy mouthfeel. Vanilla, red frogs, sponge cake. It also has a spiciness to it that lingers through the finish.

Conclusion

By no means a bad dram but it fits into my thoughts about this distillery as a whole. Not a whole lot going on that excited me.

Score: 6/10
