‘Brazilian Beach Hammock Sundowner’ is a 15-year-old from distillery 28, fully matured in a refill ex-Bourbon barrel. It was released in Australia in June 2021, with a total outturn of 226 bottles. Out of all the cask types, refill Bourbon is top of the list for me. Especially when it’s full maturation for a good amount of time, 15 patient years in this case.
Nose
Fresh flowers and citrus. Like walking into a florist. That lovely refill Bourbon sweetness is also coming through.
Taste
Not as floral on the palate, but a drop of water brings it to life even more. Pineapple, white wine and a big lemonade note (Sprite style). Slightly sour and zesty with a drying finish.
Conclusion
Keeping the theme with the previous review of 2.134, another fantastic sunny daytime dram. This one was clearly the better of the two and has since been finished and sorely missed. Very good value at $205.
