‘We Have Made It!’ is a 22-year-old from distillery 66, fully matured in a refill ex-Bourbon hogshead. Released in Australia in November 2020 with a total of 252 bottles. The tasting notes on this release got me straight away, along with over 20 years in a refill hoggy, yes please!
Nose
Earthy and mossy. Leather, polish, cigar box with some light smokiness coming through.
Taste
More of that gentle Highland peat coming through. Vanilla, cherries, cinnamon. Finish was a bit quick and thin but can be forgiven all things considered. Time in the glass was needed.
Conclusion
A truly complex dram – the nose and taste were worlds apart; I always enjoy drams like this. Definitely not a session dram, this deserves time and patience. Getting up there in price, but that’s to be expected for a bottle of this age and calibre.
